Hot topics to be covered at VB conference in Dallas.
For the last six years,
VB
has set aside a section of the VB conference for ‘last-minute’ papers, the idea being that researchers submit proposals for these presentations very close to the conference itself, thus enabling them to cover topics that are as up-to-the-minute as possible.
The programme of last-minute papers for VB2012 in Dallas has just been announced (the abstracts themselves having only been submitted two weeks ago) and we’re pleased with what we have to offer – with topics ranging from the
real
costs of cybercrime, to ransomware, new banking trojans, cleaning up infected domains, industrial espionage in Latin America, and investigations of Russian malware authors:
-
Measuring the cost of cybercrime
–
Tyler Moore, Southern Methodist University
-
To get your malware noticed: target all the police forces in Europe
–
Loucif Kharouni, Trend Micro
-
Gataka: a banking trojan ready to take off?
–
Jean-Ian Boutin, ESET
-
ACAD/Medre: industrial espionage in Latin America?
–
Robert Lipovsky & Sebastian Bortnik, ESET
-
The Adobers
–
Neil Schwartzman, CAUCE.org & Paul Kincaid-Smith, SendGrid
-
Russian hackers, proxy resellers, and rootkits
–
Joseph Bingham, Symantec
-
Cleaning up the net 2.0 – a success story of cleaning 3000+ websites
–
Adrian Leuenberger, SWITCH
We hope you’ll agree that the selection of last-minute papers both complement and enhance the rest of the conference programme – the full schedule can be found
