Industry veteran joins others from McAfee.
Jimmy Kuo, the widely respected virus expert and popular speaker, has left
McAfee
after over ten years working in their
AVERT
labs, to join the fast-expanding security response team at
Microsoft
.
Kuo follows several other industry heavyweights leaving their respective posts in recent months, including former
McAfee AVERT
spokesman Vincent Gullotto, who has also joined the Redmond team, as well as former
Virus Bulletin
technical editor Fraser Howard, who has joined
Sophos
as a Principal Virus Researcher after spending some years with
McAfee
. Larry Bridwell, until recently Content Security Programs Manager of
iCSA Labs
, took up his new post as Vice President of Communications at
Grisoft
last month.
Prior to joining
McAfee
in 1995, Kuo also headed
Symantec
‘s labs. His role at
Microsoft
is expected to be as a senior security researcher or, as some rumours have put it, ‘roving AV guru’.
